My Process

For me, photography is a flash in my gut.

It happens before I think.
Before I ask myself if the light is right, if the framing works, or if the photograph will make sense.

I see something and, for a moment, I feel the need to hold on to it.

I can’t always explain what it is.
Sometimes it’s a person. A gesture. A light that lasts only a few seconds. An animal appearing where it shouldn’t be.

A landscape that makes me feel small, very small.

That feeling is what I’m looking for.

The camera comes afterwards. It’s the tool I use to give that feeling a shape.
